Can classical electrodynamics predict nonlocal effects?

چکیده
Abstract Classical electrodynamics is a local theory describing interactions between charges and electromagnetic fields therefore one would not expect that this could predict nonlocal effects. But perception implicitly assumes the configurations lie in simply connected regions. In paper, we consider an configuration lying non-simply region, which consists of charged particle encircling infinitely long solenoid enclosing uniform magnetic flux, show angular momentum describes interaction charge outside flux confined inside solenoid. We argue nonlocality topological nature by showing proportional to winding number. The magnitude may be interpreted as classical counterpart Aharonov–Bohm phase.

A nonlocal classical perspective on quantum electrodynamics
The ideas behind the nonlocal classical statistical field theory model for the quantized Klein-Gordon field introduced in Morgan(2001, quantph/0106141) are extended to accommodate quantum electrodynamics. The anticommutation rules for the quantized Dirac spinor field are given a classical interpretation as a relativistically covariant modification of the minimal coupling interaction between the...
متن کاملNonlocal electrodynamics of accelerated systems
Acceleration-induced nonlocality is discussed and a simple field theory of nonlocal electrodynamics is developed. The theory involves a pair of real parameters that are to be determined from observation. The implications of this theory for the phenomenon of helicity-rotation coupling are briefly examined.
متن کاملMassless Classical Electrodynamics
In the direct action form of classical EM we give the equation of motion for a classical massless bare charge without self-interaction in the presence of an external field. That equation permits superluminal speeds and time-reversals, and so is a realization of the Stueckelberg-Feynman view of electrons and positrons as different segments of a single trajectory. We give a particular solution to...
متن کاملInconsistency in Classical Electrodynamics
I show that the standard approach to modeling phenomena involving microscopic classical electrodynamics is mathematically inconsistent. I argue that there is no conceptually unproblematic and consistent theory covering the same phenomena to which this inconsistent theory can be thought of as an approximation; and I propose a set of conditions for the acceptability of inconsistent theories. 1. I...
